Lin Yi-Hsuan
Lin Yi-Hsuan, who graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts, spent most of his time in Latin America and Brazil. Lin's work merges painting, collage, graffito, and writing His work explores the core of painting and records his life in Latin America and the issue of immigrant identification with abstract and symbolism techniques. Lin has several solo exhibitions in recent years: "Sob o Céu Estrelado," Ateliê Fidalga, Sao Paulo (2019), "We are Turtles," KdMoFA, Taipei (2019), "Straw," Each Modern, Taipei (2018); he was also invited to group exhibitions: "Bienal de Curitiba 14a", Brazail (2019) , "Out of Summer," Simon Lee Gallery, Hong Kong (2019) and "A man called log", Each Modern, Taipei (2021).

- Residency International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP)
The 5-months residency time in ISCP, New York, was splendid and a learnful experience for me.
ISCP has arranged plenty of external activities, such as Field Trip, Gallery Walk, Chelsea Edition, the Living Room program to visit art organizations, museums, galleries, and artist studios and other organizations both in New York City and suburban areas. For internal activities, there were ISCP Talk, Open Doors, One Artist/One Work, Artists at Work which the resident artists did an oral presentation of their works. Also, there was a round-table discussion for curators and artists, called Curatorial Commitment and Responsibility, and the Open Studio program of artists.
Among these activities, I have participated in Spring and Summer Open Studio and Visiting Critics program. I met artistic directors and curators from Germany, Poland, and New York in the Visiting Critics program. We shared different views of painting and discussed the art environment in New York and the cultural differences between São Paolo, New York, and other cities. Thanks to these programs of ISCP, I have got closer to the worldwide artists during the residency, especially this period of European artists. Most of their works focus on the concept and new media. They have different conceptions of exhibition, art statement, critics, even the way of presentation, which are out of "American" thinking. And to me, it is truly an enjoyable culture shock.
Overall, this residency helped my creation positively. It could have changed my work's ideas and forms and made me rethink my creative career, and help me readjust and plan. I believe these good vibes will still go on.
