Farm Studio International Artist Residency 2025
India / SirohiDeadline 2024.12.15
ArquetopiaSUMMER is back!, our flagship residency, is an intensive international critical program aimed at expanding artistic practices through the application of new methodologies and innovative approaches. The goal is to recenter ethics in the process of creating images while rethinking creative practices through Arquetopia’s methodology and program framework, by intersecting academic knowledge, scholarly discourse, and local epistemologies. For its 15th anniversary, ArquetopiaSUMMER 2025 will focus on theme “METAMORPHOSIS: Adjusting in a New Tempo” to reconsider the power of rhythm within the creative process. As the world has changed, becoming more and more complex, we continuously experience the need to adapt, contest, and survive. What does it mean to be an artist in this unsafe modern world, constantly threatened by the rise of nationalism, environmental extinction, and oppression; particularly when knowing that our work will be appropriated by the narratives of power? Is it possible to interrupt that legacy of Empire and reshape the realm of possibilities of art? Over the course of this 4-week residency, participants will question images by engaging in a deep analysis of their practice through the lens of radical theory across research, production, and recontextualization. This residency nurtures interactions that stimulate artistic growth and collaboration among participants, blending critical methodologies with artistic practices, encouraging participants to challenge and question existing paradigms. Through engaging with various themes, conducting research, and encountering diverse voices, participants foster a vibrant exchange of ideas. For more information, please contact Arquetopia at: info@arquetopia.org. Join us this Summer 2025!

France / ParisSince its founding in 1907, MacDowell has imbued its spaces with a deep and abiding respect for artists and their creative work. In the 21st century, this fundamental kindness is sustained by the curiosity, generosity, and goodwill circulating within the resident community. While MacDowell may be thought of as a place apart from the world, the resident population will always be comprised of individuals who are of the world. MacDowell strives to offer ideal working conditions for artists within a joyful and mutually supportive environment. Consistent with that mission, all Fellows are obliged to adopt the community agreement as a condition of accepting a Fellowship. Doing so will help ensure that all Fellows may participate in the enriching exchange that has given rise to countless friendships and collaborations. MacDowell is an artist residency program located in the rural environment in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Artists-in-residence need to be comfortable with a degree of solitude and disconnection from the outside world. Studios are comfortably furnished with the artists’ needs in mind. A MacDowell Fellowship consists of exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for two to six weeks. There are no residency fees. Artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses: financial assistance is available to artists in residence based on demonstrated financial need. Morocco / MarrakechFocus on the essentials Stop the information overflow, go offline and get back to focus in a supportive, natural environment in the middle of the Northern summer. Back to Basics residency program allows artists to clear their minds, get back to focus, and (re)discover the very basis of their being. Take a break from your smartphone, reconnect with your creativity, be part of nature and learn to stay present again, doing only things you want to be doing. As the emphasis in this program is on reconnecting with your creative practice and being, no predetermined project plan is required. Participants are encouraged to arrive with their minds open for on-site observations, ideas, self-reflection and interacting with other artists. With support from the professional staff, facilities, and the program structure, Back to Basics allows you to go back to what matters to you. No wifi, no cellphones - presence and pure nature The program urges you to block the usual ways of escapism, be present where you are, and see how that improves your concentration skills, creativity, and productivity. To make this happen, the use of cellphones is not allowed and internet access is limited in this program. The residents also have the possibility to participate in daily meditation sessions. (See program details below.) The summer season is ideal for exploring and getting inspired by the rich Finnish nature surrounding Arteles Creative Center. There are countless forests, fields, lakes, and small countryside roads in the region. Thanks to Finland’s everyman’s rights, they can all be explored freely. Midsummer is full of light: even in the middle of the night, it’s bright enough to go for a walk in the forest. Seasonal berries and mushrooms can be picked from the yard and the woods, and when it’s time to get relaxed, the residency center’s traditional wood-burning sauna is the place to be.
