Residencia Corazón is much more than a residency: it is a home for ideas, creativity, and human connections. Located in the heart of La Plata, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, the residency was founded in 2006 by Juan Pablo Ferrer and Rodrigo Mirto with a clear mission: to create a genuine refuge where artists, writers, researchers, and curators from around the world could step away from the noise of everyday life and focus entirely on what matters most — their art, their voice, and their creative journey.
Over the past two decades, Residencia Corazón has hosted hundreds of residents from across Latin America, North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, becoming one of Argentina's most established and internationally connected artist residency programs. What began as a house open to a handful of artists has grown into a vibrant cultural space with a strong community of alumni and an ever-expanding network of collaborators, institutions, and art organizations.
The residency is located in a carefully restored historic house in the center of La Plata — a city known for its exceptional urban design, its rich cultural life, and its proximity to Buenos Aires (just one hour away). Residents have access to private rooms, dedicated studio spaces, a gallery, a backyard with outdoor gathering areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and all essential services including Wi-Fi, cleaning, and climate control. The space is thoughtfully designed to offer a balance between comfort, privacy, and creative freedom.
Residencia Corazón is open to emerging and established artists across all visual arts disciplines, as well as writers (novelists, poets, non-fiction writers, screenwriters, and playwrights), independent curators, and researchers. The program runs year-round, welcoming up to three residents per month, and is particularly committed to fostering cultural exchange between international artists and the local Argentine and Latin American creative community.
As pioneers of cultural exchange in the region, the residency actively connects residents with local artists, galleries, cultural institutions, and audiences — offering not just a workspace, but a genuine point of entry into Argentina's art scene. After twenty years, Residencia Corazón remains guided by the same founding spirit: that art flourishes when artists are given time, space, and community.
