AN EXCEPTIONAL ENVIRONMENT

"A site thought for artists and the public."

With its long-standing commitment to cultural patronage, Groupe FIMINCO created the Fondation Fiminco in 2017 and set it up on the former industrial site of the Roussel-Uclaf factories in Romainville in 2019. Originally a pioneering laboratory founded by veterinarian Gaston Roussel, the site was a hub for chemical research and antibiotic production. The unique buildings, designed by acclaimed architect Jean Barot, have now been reborn as a laboratory for artistic creation, research, and innovation, beautifully continuing its historic mission.

Today, the Fondation Fiminco hosts international artist residencies and offers an eclectic program that includes exhibitions, performances, residency presentations, talks, meetings, and fairs—open to all audiences.

The Fondation Fiminco’s mission is to support artists from all disciplines at every stage of their creative journey, without requiring any counterpart, by fostering their professional development and integration into artistic networks both in France and internationally. The Foundation also strives to make culture accessible to all through outreach initiatives and artistic and cultural education, in connection with local development dynamics. Lastly, it is committed to preserving and promoting craftsmanship by making artistic practices accessible to both the public and creators.

To achieve these goals, the Foundation relies on three complementary pillars:
● Visual arts, the starting point of its engagement with contemporary creation.
● Performing arts, currently expanding with the development of dedicated infrastructures within FAST.
● Craftsmanship, which holds an increasingly important place through actions focused on transmission, production, and the showcasing of both historical and contemporary techniques.

One instance is a project named Micro-Folie. Since March 2021, the Fondation Fiminco has hosted this digital museum, offering fun, technological access to masterpieces. It includes various themes that incorporate art history, social issues, and cultural programs.

The Fiminco Foundation aims to create lasting links with its alumni. Discussions are underway to encourage their active participation in co-constructing exchanges across all cohorts. In 2025, the Fabrique des arts residency is evolving to meet the growing demand from artists. It now offers variable durations of 3, 6, or 10 months, and is open to other disciplines: performing arts, music, design, and crafts. Artists also benefit from curatorial support throughout their residency, provided by a guest curator.
