In March 2024, I began a five-month residency at ISCP in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to providing studio spaces, ISCP hosts a fascinating range of events and activities. ISCP offers excellent facilities and resources, but I was most impressed by the interaction among the artists in residence at ISCP. There was a distinctly international atmosphere within the community. Apart from a few local artists, most residents come from all over the world with funding from their respective national institutions or private foundations, and stay for periods ranging from two to twelve months. Among them are many internationally renowned artists with extensive professional experience.
ISCP created the perfect environment for us to get to know each other, and I became great friends with many fellow artists. We talked about art, the cultural landscape in our home countries, and opportunities for collaboration. These conversations gave me a much clearer picture of the international art scene and helped me plan my next steps.
This residency had a massive impact on my artistic career. It was the first time I produced a project abroad. It also gave me the opportunity to work with talented artists from different countries and build international connections. I believe the bond between us will inspire my future journey as an artist. I have stayed in touch with many of them since returning home.
Living in the global art hub of New York for five months was an eye-opening experience. The city's vibrant art scene inspired me to actively seek new opportunities around the world and embrace the unknown and new challenges. It is my sincere hope to bring my work to a wider audience. This residency gave me both the motivation and the opportunity to do just that. For that, I am truly grateful.
