Artist Statement:
I was a finalist for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, also known as the ‘Olympics of Theatre,’ in 2007. I was also invited to exhibit Light Scape at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei’s MOCA Studio in 2009. In addition, I was invited as scholar-in-exchange to Iowa’s Grinnell College (USA) as a lighting designer in 2010. In 2011, I was selected by the Council of Cultural Affairs to visit the Cité International des Arts in Paris, France for a residency program. Light Scape 2 was created and exhibited there, followed by Light Scape 2-Amour in the spring of 2012.
A friend introduced me as a Taiwanese artist. The French shrugged indifferently and said, ‘I am an artist too!’ He said to simply make a sign with the word ‘Artist’ on it and put it around your neck. Then you are an artist!
I guess this is an attitude towards life!
Eat and drink to your hearts content, be the most critical when viewing an exhibition. The ‘artist’ as a profession is perfectly justified. A lady in Paris said, “Everyone is an artist; everyone is an artist of his or her own life."
Do not go to class, do not work, just live! Enjoy every moment and simply breathe fiercely. A mouth full of cold, sharp air stimulates the brain from the subtropics.

My Paris time is even freer than my American time (Note: There’s a Taiwanese saying that time in America is always longer and freer than any other time).
