2026 Taiwan Art Space Alliance (TASA) Meeting “Knowledg-ing Re: Load 2.0 – _____________________” with Asia Professional Exchange
2026/09/02
Event Dates: September 4 (Fri.) - September 5 (Sat.), 2026
Venue: Lìzé Puppet Art Colony
The Taiwan Artist-in-Residence Alliance Annual Meeting (TASA Meeting) has been held annually since 2015, entering its 12th year in 2026. Over the years, TASA has continued to bring together artists, curators, arts administrators, researchers, and cultural organization professionals from Taiwan, Asia, and around the world. Topics have ranged from the horizontal and vertical development of arts organizations, spaces, and artist residencies, to arts festivals, residency systems, space management, Southeast Asian networks, international exchange and mobility, cultural equity and social engagement, and, in recent years, cultural sustainability, cultural impact, and the professional development of arts and cultural workers. Each edition of the annual meeting has documented the issues emerging within the arts and cultural landscape of its time, while connecting experiences accumulated across different periods.
The theme of the 2026 Annual Meeting is "Knowledge Re: Load 2.0 - _____________________." This year, we turn our attention back to the experiences accumulated by arts organizations, spaces, and artist residencies themselves. We have deliberately left a blank space at the end of the title, inviting artists, curators, arts administrators, researchers, cultural organization professionals, project teams, and cultural practitioners working from different positions to decide for themselves what belongs there. It might be a keyword, a question that continues to demand attention, a working method developed over many years, or an experience that needs to be revisited and reconsidered.
"Re: Load 2.0" follows on from the theme of the 2022 TASA Meeting, "Re." At the time, restrictions on mobility caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, together with broader changes in the cultural working environment, required artist residency organizations, arts spaces, and cultural workers to reconsider and reorganize their existing ways of working. Four years later, artist residencies are once again in motion and international exchanges have gradually resumed. We now return to look at ourselves once more: What have we accumulated over these years? Which experiences have become the foundations of our work? Which methods that once worked need to be adjusted? And what forms of knowledge have always existed within our everyday practices, but have yet to be organized, articulated, and shared?
In the English theme, TASA has also coined the term "Knowledg-ing," transforming "knowledge" from a seemingly stable noun into an ongoing process. Knowledge grows through new experiences, but may also diminish as environments change. It can be revised, questioned, exchanged, and reorganized. Artist residencies are precisely the sites where such knowledge continues to take shape. Through encounters among artists, institutions, local communities, administrators, curators, researchers, and people from different cultural backgrounds, new understandings and ways of working are constantly being formed.
This year's Annual Meeting is co-organized by the Taiwan Art Space Alliance (TASA), Lìzé Puppet Art Colony, and Shin Leh Yuan Art Space, in collaboration with the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation, under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture. Organizational operations are supported by the National Culture and Arts Foundation and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government. The project is led by Wu Shu-Lun as Project Director and coordinated by Chang Ya-Ping. Committee members Lee Hsiao-Wen, Lee Hui-Chen, Lee Yu-Hsuan, Lin Ching-Wen, Chang Ya-Ping, and Huang Chien-Jung have also been invited to contribute their respective professional perspectives in artist residencies, cultural institutions, international exchange, arts administration, and organizational practice to the development and discussion of this year's program.
Through a series of preliminary talks, artist residency programs, interdisciplinary exchanges, and Asian arts professional exchange programs, the Annual Meeting connects arts organizations, spaces, and residency institutions across different cities in Taiwan. Building upon the Southeast Asian partnerships developed over the past several years, it also seeks to further expand horizontal connections across Asia. As experiences from different places begin to encounter, exchange with, and reinterpret one another, knowledge continues to generate new relationships through movement.
Knowledg-ing describes the idea that "knowledge is happening." Re: Load 2.0 represents a renewed process of looking at, organizing, and reflecting upon the experiences we have accumulated. And _____________________ leaves a space to be filled by every participant.
So, what would you write in the blank this time?
