Mooni Perry (b. 1990, Seoul) is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Berlin whose practice explores diasporic divinity, women's ritual practices, and vernacular cosmologies across East Asia and beyond.
Her moving image works emerge from long term field research and investigate how myths, folk religions, women's ritual practices, and suppressed histories continue to shape contemporary life. Working across film, installation, and publishing, she traces the movement of stories, deities, and spiritual practices across borders, generations, and political regimes.
Her recent film EL (2025), exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, traces the forgotten lives of Korean women who migrated to Manchuria during the Japanese colonial period. Filmed across former sites of Manchukuo in Northeast China, the work moves between dreams, archival fragments, and contemporary landscapes to explore disappearance, displacement, and the afterlives of colonial violence.
Her installation and publication Missing (2024) emerged from research into female Taoist communities in Hong Kong and Southern China. Combining moving image, field notes, interviews, and speculative writing, the project examines women who have lived outside conventional family structures, tracing alternative forms of kinship, devotion, and belonging through the figure of the missing woman.
Her recent two channel installation The Oracle (2025), commissioned by CHAT, developed through three months of field research in Hong Kong and Southern China. Beginning with research on the Seven Fairies and their connections to textile workers, Comb Sisters, Cai Gu communities, and women centered temple traditions, the project gradually expanded into an exploration of death, ritual, and female sacred figures. Through temple ceremonies, spirit medium practices, embroidery workshops, and Hungry Ghost Festival rituals, the work traces how ordinary women become ancestors, shamans, goddesses, and guardians through collective memory and devotion.
She has exhibited at institutions including Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin; Kai Art Center, Tallinn; ARKO Art Center, Seoul; and CHAT, Hong Kong. In 2021, she received the ars viva prize.

CHAN Sai-lok
Artist, curator, and writer based in Hong Kong. Chan holds a BA and MFA in Fine Art and an MA in Gender Studies, all from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has always taken text and literature as points of departure in his artistic endeavor, through which he contemplates the intimate relationship between painting and literariness. His exhibition catalogues The Countenance of Text (2020) and Everyday Practice (2019) were published.
His recent solo exhibitions include Stories under the Canopies - Public art installation of RE: Tai Kok Tsui (2025-26), The Stillness Between (2024-25), The Pictures and Those Thousand Words (2024), Everyday Practice (Hong Kong 2019 and New York 2020), and Land of Longing and Exile (2019), etc. He participated in artist/art critic in residency including ARoS Art Museum at Aarhus, Flux Factory at New York, and Hong Kong House at Echigo Tsumari Art Triennial. Chan has been a finalist in the Sovereign Asian Art Prize, a winner of the UOB Art in Ink Award, and Professor Mayching Kao Art History Award.
He is now also a part-time lecturer from several Universities, and a guest host of a radio cultural program.
