Ohau Chen Solo Exhibition: Take a Nap
2024/11/28
Location:Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center
The planned work draws on everyday events as reference points, reflecting experiences of self-dialogue during my residency at Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center. Facing challenges in field research (realizing I was not well-suited to be an artist focused on human geography or cultural history), I shifted to taking walks around Tsung-Yeh. Through this, I encountered Taiping Qingge performances, explored the coastal scenery of Jiangjun District in Tainan, and turned my focus inward to explore my immediate needs.
I began interacting with the shapes of light, the sounds of nature, and my own bodily presence in this space. This led me back to sketching, something I hadn’t done in a long time, and reflecting on ways to engage playfully with the surrounding environment. During this period, I intuitively felt that a comfortable chair was needed here, and this notion became central to my creative work.
