Arteles Creative Center, founded by artists in 2010, in Finland is one of the largest and most international residency centers in Scandinavia. Since 2010, over 1,200 artists and creative professionals from over 57 countries have participated in Arteles residency programs, expanding their creative practices.
Arteles is located in the middle of the extraordinary nature of Hämeenkyrö (European Union Landscape Award in 2009), far from city life distractions. Here, people can soak in the fresh air, enjoy the silence, go for wandering walks in the forests and swimming in the many lakes nearby, do hiking and trekking trips in the nature and have daily relaxing in a traditional sauna. Arteles provides an inspiring and supportive environment with no stress or pressure. The center allows creative individuals to focus on their very own thing, aims and being and embrace personal growth, mindfulness and long-term progress.
Arteles also provides residency buildings, Nexus 9000 and Timber. The center hosts over 120 artists each year in selected multidisciplinary groups of 12-14 artists. The residency periods usually last 1-2 months and the program details vary depending on the program. These spaces are designed to meet the diverse needs of creatives and provide 24/7 access. The shared studio space overlooks the fields and is equipped for 2D and small-scale 3D artists, featuring a range of equipment such as lightboards, printers, scanners, a separate photo studio, and a sound room with gear. These facilities and wide selection of creative equipment & gear support the artists' individual ways of working. The center understands that creative process is always in a state of flux and encourages taking things beyond the conventional – out of the box.
So far, over a 1,200 artists and creatives from over 57 different countries have been in Arteles residency. Tsai Chih-Fen(蔡芷芬), Yu-Dien Chen(陳煜典), I-Chi Lin(林奕其), Eric Chi-Puo LIN(林奇伯) and more than 15 Taiwanese artists and curators have been there to participate the artist residency program.
