Lìzé Puppet Art Colony
|
Located on the Lanyang Plain near the Dongshan River, sandy coastline, and the nationally recognized 52-Jia Wetland, Lize offers an environment surrounded by nature and a community with a strong local character. Artists are encouraged to immerse themselves in the local environment, observe, connect, and develop site-responsive creative practices. Through research, experimentation, and collaboration, the program also encourages artists to reflect on the relationships between land, nature, and people, as well as issues of environmental sustainability.
The theme for 2027 is "COME PLAY, +1." Lize Puppet Art Colony invites artists from Taiwan and around the world to arrive with an idea, a question, or a work still in development, and to begin an open-ended creative process through encounters with different people, objects, materials, spaces, sounds, conversations, and artistic practices.
The program does not expect artists to arrive with a fully completed answer. Instead, it encourages them to leave room for the unknown and allow their work to continue evolving through experimentation, exchange, transformation, and unexpected encounters. Artists may begin with familiar techniques and experiences, an unfinished idea, an object, or simply a question, and explore new possibilities throughout the residency.
