Each participant is required to develop an individual work, which will be completed collaboratively with the other selected participants. Artists are not required to perform their own works. Each piece is expected to be performed by 6 performers, or 7 if the creator also takes part in the performance. There are no restrictions on form or technique, though participants are encouraged to incorporate elements related to Sant Mateu and the Maestrat region, and may also include theatrical, gestural, or performative aspects.
The residency also includes a preliminary online or pre-residency working session to help artists and coordinators plan the creative process. The final outcomes of the program will be publicly presented on July 31, 2026, at the Auditorio Municipal de Sant Mateu, and will be audio-visually documented for future promotional purposes. In addition, one day of the residency will be dedicated to a community engagement activity, combining the local traditional dance Ball Pla de Sant Mateu with a collective creation related to local culture.
