The program aims to promote international exchange and advance research on NTMoFA’s collections by opening the Museum’s institutional and research resources to artists, curators, art historians, critics, theorists, and museum professionals. NTMoFA particularly welcomes proposals engaging with its collections, Taiwanese art history, Taiwanese artists, and Technology Art.
Residency Period
The residency will take place from September 3 to October 22, 2026, with a required duration of 30 to 50 days.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be non–Republic of China (Taiwan) nationals
Not be currently enrolled students
Have at least five years of relevant professional experience
Demonstrate familiarity with NTMoFA, its collections, and Taiwanese art and culture
Have not received NTMoFA residency support within the past two years
Possess basic communication ability in English or Chinese
Support
NTMoFA provides:
One round-trip economy-class airfare to Taiwan
Local transportation between the airport and the Museum
Insurance reimbursement (up to NTD 5,000)
A daily residency allowance covering research/creation-related expenses and basic living costs, determined by academic status: NTD 5,350 for general researchers, NTD 7,130 for associate professors, and NTD 8,915 for professors
Free studio space
Access to the NTMoFA Art Library
Conditional access to collection storage facilities for research and observation
Obligations
The selected resident is required to:
Organize at least one public program or presentation every 15 days (e.g. workshops, lectures, open studios)
Present one public final presentation before the end of the residency
Submit a final report within 14 days after the residency (minimum 3,000 Chinese characters or 1,500 English words), granting NTMoFA rights for educational, research, publication, and public use
Selection
1–2 selected residents, 2 alternates
Selection is conducted through a two-stage review process, including written review and online interviews.

| Selection Procedure | Two-Stage Selection: 1)Preliminary Review: The Selection Committee will review the applications and select five (5) candidates to proceed to the final review stage. 2)Final Review: The Selection Committee will conduct online interviews with the five (5) shortlisted candidates at designated times and select one or two (1-2) final recipients. |
| Expected Outcome | 1. Sign a contract with the Museum within two weeks of the selection announcement and provide a plan for residency and public activities; 2. Maintain a residency diary and submit work logs to the Museum during the residency period; 3. During the residency period, the Resident is required to organize and conduct at least one (1) public outreach activity or public presentation every fifteen (15) days. The format is flexible and may include, but is not limited to, workshops, lectures, or open studio events (including a final presentation of the residency outcomes). 4. Present a final public presentation before the end of the residency; and 5. Submit a final report (minimum 1,500 words in English or 3,000 characters in Chinese) within 14 days of residency completion, and grant the Museum unrestricted rights to use the materials for art education, research, publication, activities, and promotional purposes, without limitations on time, method, frequency, or geographical region. 6. If the obligations outlined in items (2) through (5) above are not fulfilled as agreed, the Museum reserves the right to withhold payment of the second phase residency funds. Depending on the severity of the circumstances, the Museum may revoke or annul the recipient's selection status and recover part or all of the funds already disbursed. |
