More About Residency Lìzé Puppet Art Colony
"Lize Puppet Art Colony" is a creative platform dedicated to the development of puppetry. Since 2017, the colony has been promoting the "Artist-in-Residence Program" aimed at providing artists with comprehensive creative spaces and interactive platforms for exchange. Each year, the program invites artists from both domestic and international backgrounds to come to the Lize settlement, stimulating imagination and creativity through experiencing the ambience of community life. The program has facilitated artists in presenting new works and engaging in interactive exchanges, achieving remarkable results with enthusiastic responses.

The Lize Puppet Arts Colony is thrilled to announce the theme for the Artist in Residence program in 2026 - “Animate / Inanimate”. We invite artists to explore the delicate tension between what is animate and inanimate, alive and inert, human and nonhuman, real and imagined.

We’ve extended the deadline for this year’s Open Call to September 14, 2026 (Sunday), 23:59 (GMT+8).

For artists still in the middle of writing their applications, take a deep breath, let your ideas flow onto the page, and allow us to get to know you.

And for those who only just discovered the call but worried time was too short, here’s your chance! Use this extension to finish strong and send in your application.

This year, we have received numerous inquiries from artists asking whether applications may be submitted as a duo. After careful consideration, we are pleased to announce that Plan B will exceptionally be open to applications from pairs. Please note, however, that the resources outlined in the program guidelines can only be provided to one member of the duo, while the other member will be responsible for covering all related expenses independently. Applicants are advised to take this condition into account before submitting their proposals.

Funding ◆ Plan A：
1. Public Outreach Activity Material Fee: NT$3,500. Reimbursed upon actual expense.

◆ Plan B：
1. Round-Trip International Economy Class Airfare (including airport pickup and drop-off)
2. Creation and Materials Fee: NT$20,000.
3. Public Outreach Activity Material Fee: NT$3,500. Reimbursed upon actual expense.
Provided by Host 1. Accommodation: Provided.
2. Weekday Lunches at the Puppet Colony Canteen (Monday to Friday)
3. Shared Creative and Rehearsal Space: Barn No. 6.
4. Basic tools, equipment and materials (usage-based fees may apply depending on type and quantity)
5. Creation Consultation: Provided by the curator of the artist-in-residence program during the residency.
6. General travel safety insurance during the residency period.
7. Provide information on daily life and participation in local cultural and artistic activities.
8. Assist in arranging and facilitating promotional educational activities within schools or communities.
Costs 1. International artists are responsible for their visa application fees.
2. Personal creative materials, any special tools required for your work, and essential personal items for daily living.
