Duration | The Bemis residency is a process-based experience–residents have the ability to research, experiment, and explore free from expectations. The Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot industrial workshop used for large-scale sculpture fabrication, is available to residents of Bemis 24 hours a day. Additionally, residents enjoy generously sized private live/work studios and a sound studio for recording and rehearsal. |

Funding | A $1,250 USD monthly stipend plus an additional $750 USD travel stipend are awarded to selected artists-in-residence who are based in the US. A host organization for the International Art & Artists Exchange program is Bemis Center. In order to be eligible for monthly stipend payments, selected overseas artists-in-residence are advised to apply for a J-1 short-term scholar visa through IA&A. An foreign artist-in-residence will be subject to payment restrictions relating to their individual visa if they fail to obtain a J-1 visa. International artists-in-residence are only eligible to receive B2 visas (touring/visiting) as reimbursement for approved costs, such as airline, ground transportation, and meals. |
How to Apply | Artists wishing to apply for any of the three 2025 open call sessions (Jan–April, May–August, or September–November) must submit a new application along with the application fee for each session. If an artist is chosen for more than one session, they will only attend one of those sessions. Deadline: 11:59 PM CST on August 1, 2024. All the information is available at bemiscenter.org/apply. |
