The residency program encourages artists to delve into local communities and alleys, uncovering the area's historical and cultural heritage. Through fieldwork around Gongguan, the program promotes local cultural research, Hakka cultural studies, and research on waterfront humanities and the environment. The aim is to establish cooperation and foster discussions with local communities, emphasizing social and cultural issues. The program seeks to expand the network of relationships between the Southern Taipei Art and Cultural Center and the community.
►Theme of Creation
The theme is "The History of Southern Expansion or the Historical Features of the Tingzhou Gongguan Area." Artists are encouraged to produce experimental, interdisciplinary research and collections focused on local studies. The medium of research and creation is not limited and can involve co-creation with local communities and residents.

Funding | Commissioned creation fee: NT$100,000 (including various income withholdings and supplementary premiums, execution fees, works, material fee, etc.), will be allocated in two installments. The conditions for the first installment of disbursement are "approval of the proposal plan", that is, the disbursement. The total cost is 70%, and the second phase is "handling the acceptance of the entire project and submitting the results report (including photos)","(film)", after it is confirmed to be correct, 30% of the total cost will be allocated. |
Costs | Artists are responsible for planning, arranging, and maintaining their exhibition space and artworks. All materials, equipment, and tools required for the fulfillment of the contract must be provided by the artist. |
How to Apply | From now until 23:59 on June 25, 2020, please write the proposal document by email. After completion, provide complete pdf and word files and send them to thcf.242@gmail.com. Selection Procedure | Review Meeting Date: The review meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 8, 2024. Proposers must attend the meeting to explain their proposals. Review Items and Standards: Review committee members will evaluate the content. A proposal is considered qualified if it receives an average score of 80 points or above from the attending committee members. Qualified proposals will be ranked based on their scores. The top 2 proposals with the highest scores will be given priority for selection and will be asked to sign a contract. Theme and Content (50%): Evaluation of the creative concept, specifications or dimensions and quantity of the works, materials used, and the creation timeline (overall planning of the creation period). Execution Capability (30%): Planning of the work schedule and previous experience in residency execution. Marketing Effectiveness (15%): Marketing and promotion planning, and expected benefits. Presentation and Q&A (5%): On-site presentation and Q&A session. Final Report Acceptance: The format for the activity outcome report can refer to the proposal plan. Please submit it in Word format. |
