OPEN CALL for 2024 Art Residency in Taiping Art Hub Application Guidelines |
The curled shapes of fern plants have been beloved since ancient times, adorning architectural decorations, textile crafts, as well as modern photography and illustrations. Taiwan, originally a paradise for ferns, boasts abundant fern diversity. From the perspective of ecological art and community construction, issues such as environmental conservation and spatial aesthetics extending from ferns are also means of connecting community friendship and shaping local identity.
With the allure of the beauty of "ferns," we hope to recruit artists and designers inspired by themes of "ferns" and the environment of the TaiPing Community. By settling in the community, we aim to unearth the thematic characteristics of the community and through the process of community building, cultural and creative designs. These artistic practices can materialize into exhibitions, and products can be jointly developed with sales as the goal. Through locally themed artistic creations and product designs, we aim to revitalize the community and look forward to your participation!
◼︎ Recruitment Criteria:
1. Divided into two groups: "Artists" and "Designers." Each group seeks upto four individuals
2. Propose themes based on ferns or the characteristics of the mountain city community (ferns are also one of the local features), and write residency project proposals.
3. The submitted project proposals will be evaluated by the selection committee based on feasibility, creativity, completeness, etc., and selected candidates will be invited to join the residency.
◼︎ Residency Stipend and Collaboration Terms
1. During the residency period, each participant must stay for at least "two weeks." Each participant will receive a residency allowance of "NT$10,000" (if they are residents of Keelung, the NT$10,000 residency allowance will be converted to a work fee).

4. The expenses for workshops, exhibitions, and presentation events conducted by participants will be agreed upon by both parties. This unit will be responsible, with each participant allocated approximately NT$10,000 to NT$20,000.
