“Ma chambre” Music Salon

In early September, Ka Dao Yin (aka Caught Up In), an improvisation ensemble from Taiwan, came to Paris for performance. A friend of mine in the music industry, Lee Shih-Yang, decided to organize a session at my studio at Cité Internationale des Arts, and we invited friends in Paris’ music scene. During the event, I got to know Judith Kan, a vocalist who I later held a concert with. Judith is the contact person of the France Society for Improvised Music, and with her help, many musicians came to my studio for sessions. This gradually turned into a regular gathering of improvisation musicians in Paris, so in November, I officially named this project “Ma chambre”.

Words of “Ma chambre” soon spread out through emails and word of mouth; also, as Cité Internationale des Arts is at the heart of Paris (4th Marais), the convenient location enabled participations by enthusiastic musicians in Paris.

Later, near the end of December, musicians from other European countries came specifically to Paris to participate in “Ma chambre”. By the end of my residency program, we held a total of eleven sessions of “Ma chambre”, with participations by the following musicians:

Judith Kan (voice), Simonetta Parisi (piano), Jean-Michel Susini (violin), Liang Ya-hui (percussion), Antoine Prawerman (clarinet), Lazara Rosell Albear (dance), Emmanuel Mieville (sound synth), Marco Quaresimin (double bass), Maresuke Okamoto (double bass), Kumi Iwase (saxphoon), Yusei Kaneko (trumpet), Jean-Brice Godet (clarinet), Jerome Fouquet (trumpet), Yoram Rosilio (double bass), Cristobal Schultz (piano), Czech Basker, and Ka Dao Yin.
