Koganecho Bazaar is an arts festival that has been held every autumn since 2008 in the
Koganecho area in Yokohama city, a former red light district. Its aim is to create a good
relationship between art and the local community by attracting visitors and creating a lively neighborhood.
The theme for the 13th Koganecho Bazaar this year will be "Fables of AIR and the Community", to build on KAMC's continuing "urban development through art" project which aims to create a space in which rich mutual relationships can develop between art and the local community.

This year, we are looking for projects based on the theme of New (see document:KB2020_director’s message_en "On the theme Fables of AIR and the Community").Applicants are invited to interpret this theme freely, and creatively expand on it. Although there is no set genre, it must be practical for the proposed work to be presented for the entire duration of the exhibition and make effect use of the location provided. In addition, we only accept work that is original and unpublished.

Exhibition: 3rd July (Fri) ~ 11th October (Sun) 2020
Deinstallation: 12th November (Mon) ~ 18th November (Sun) 2020

Application Requirements
A. Applicants must be able to stay in Koganecho for more than 30 days during the residency
period. Preference goes to artists who can stay 60 days or more.
B. Applicants must be self-sufficient and independent workers who are prepared to take on
the entire creative process and adjust to daily life in a new setting.
C. Applicants must without exception exhibit the results of their creative work at the
Koganecho Bazaar.
D. Applicants must strictly observe the schedule (see point 5) for creation and exhibition.
E. Applicants must work with the Koganecho office to engage in outreach programs such as
artist talks, lectures, workshops, and school visits during the project.
F. Applicants must be able to explain their work in either English, Mandarin, or Japanese and
be able to understand conversational English.
G. International applicants must have an opportunity to share their experience of Koganecho
A total of six applicants will be selected to participate in the Koganecho Bazaar residency.

Duration	2~3 months from April 2020 (actual dates are flexible)
Funding	Depending on the submitted proposal, financial assistance of up to 800,000 JPY will be provided. The detail please see the Application Guide.
