The Center of Art and Nature (CAN) of Farrera offers workspaces and facilities to artists and natural scientists around the world.
The village of Farrera is at 1361 meters above sea level. The village faces south and its valley is open to the west, making it a relatively clement and conducive place for human habitation. There are historical references to its existence more than 1,000 years ago. The population of the village is around 20/25 or so. Animal husbandry is the chief economic activity in the area. The Center has renovated the old village school l’Estudi, Casa Ramon beside. From 2005, an old barn la Bastida has renovated into ateliers, kitchen, dining room and living studios. The center is improving their service to this innovating local development project at Catalan high Pyrenees.
