Asialink, based at the University of Melbourne is Australia’s leading centre for the promotion of public understanding of Asia and of Australia’s role in the Asian region. The role of Asialink Arts is to encourage dialogue and develop opportunities for cultural exchange and engagement between Australia and Asia based on the principles of partnership, collaboration and reciprocity.

To meet the challenge of the ‘Asian Century’ the three strategic priorities of Asialink Arts are to:

- prepare the ‘next generation’ of arts leaders to develop the skills, knowledge, networks and experience to work effectively and with confidence in Asia;

- develop, test and communicate new models and platforms for creative program delivery to position Australia as a key cultural partner within the region;

contribute to the development of an intellectually rigorous Australia international cultural policy that encompass cultural diplomacy, market development and creative development.
