More About Residency Kio-A-Thau Sugar Refinery Artist Village
The world has been severely affected by COVID-19 since 2020. Under such unpredictable situations, numerous art and cultural activities or exhibitions have been indefinitely postponed or even cancelled. What's more, art workers have confronted a sharp decrease in income due to the suspension of these activities. However, we consider that the energy of art and culture leads people to find their way out of the dark. In this case, this year, we are taking "Art Revive" as the theme. Going through the era of coexist with covid-19, the pandemic has slowed the world down and made the pattern of life varied. Theaters stepped outdoors and closed the distance with the audience without the gap of the stage, online lectures and galleries attracted higher
public attention against the trend. With the "Art Revive", new paradigm and creation styles provides art workers review the steps and directions, or even the diversity of cultural connotations.

Funding a. Selected artists have free dormitory provided by this project organizers, NT$ 15,000 each month for production costs. b. For foreign country artists, NT$ 30,000 each for flights costs.
How to Apply Document required (Appendix 1: 2022 KAT Program Application): I. Applicant’s CV. II. Personal statement and project plan during the residency. III. A letter of recommendation. IV. Attachment List: At least three of your latest works (slides, printings, Videos, etc.). V. Copyright statement. *Please send all materials in one packet, or you can bring to us by yourself. *Self-addressed, stamped return mailer. (Your work samples cannot be returned unless they are accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.).
Selection Procedure I. Visions of artistic creation (40%). II. Capability of execution (40%). III. Status of implementation of feedback programs (20%). Evaluation Team: The organizers will recruit 3-5 experts, scholars and artists to form a temporary committee to do the screening.
Expected Outcome a. Resident at least four days a week, and regularly participate in the artist-in residence meeting to promote interaction of artists. b. Present your achievements while at the village, and donate one representative piece of artwork to Kio-A-Thau collection. c. Promote culture and art education for community art interaction.
