Thoughts on Residency Program:

After six months of residency, I really gained a lot. With geographical convenience, I went to the Internationale Tanzemesse NRW in Dusseldorf, Germany in late August. In mid-October, I also went to Spain for a performance by a Taiwanese dance company. During Christmas vacation in December, I went on a tour in southern France. I think this residency provided artists sincere supports. Wandering by my own in foreign countries, depressed by loneliness and solitude, I got to reflect on and examine myself. I was bombarded by the different environments, visions, cultures, and traditions in the world, and got a chance to compare the environments of art creation in different countries. I was able to find inner peace. I became humble and more open-minded, and I fully devoted myself to creative works.

In six months, I connected with artists from different countries at four different shows and premiers. Whether it was the partners I worked with, or the feedback from the audiences, they all allowed my creative works in the future to reach out further internationally. Art can help Taiwan to establish a global image with more cultural depth.

Because I paused, so I was able to see the surroundings more clearly.

Because of the simplicity of life, the artists can focus more on every work.

Because of Paris’ inclusiveness to art creations, my determination for a future in creative works is further strengthened.

In this six months of simple life, I gain too much.
