WU Chang-Jung, born in 1984. WU's work often reveals her personal stories. It is composed of living records, daily imaginations, and symbolic memories. Main topics of her exploration include world economy, energy supply, sound production, eco-environment, visual imagination, and many other current subjects of debate. Then she presents these subjects with a more sensitive and emotive touch. Methods of spatial projection and installation are applied to her work, resulting in an experimental outcome of imageries that combines reality and personal expression.

The influence:

My debut as an artist in residence led me to believe that participating in international residency programs is meaningful and valuable for one’s art career. Especially at sites where there are many fellow artists present, one could gain many fresh and precious insights. An artist does not necessary need to be productive during the artist residency, and what he/she learns at the time may not pay off right away. However, interactions and exchanges with different artists, as well as new things seen, heard, and felt, could affect how an artist develops his or her own work in the long run.
